Below are the definitions for the credit ratings used for Preferred Stocks and Exchange Traded Debt Issues

S&P        Investment Grade  AAA, AA, A, BBB, BBB-

Speculative Grade  BB+, BB, B, CCC, CC, C, D>

Moodys  Investment Grade  Aaa, Aa, A, Baa

Speculative Grade  Ba, B, Caa, Ca, C

Moodys may add 1, 2 or 3 to the end of the letter grade to further refine the rating.  A 1 would indicate the upper end of the rating, while a 3 would indicate the lower end.
