American Mortgage Acceptance Company, a real estate investment trust
(REIT), focuses on originating and acquiring mortgage loans and other
debt instruments secured by multifamily and commercial properties in the
United States. It provides first mortgage, mezzanine, and bridge financing
for commercial properties, such as office, industrial, retail, and medical
office assets. In addition, it acquires government-insured or
agency-guaranteed first mortgage loans, insured mortgage pass-through
certificates, and insured mortgage backed securities. American Mortgage
Acceptance Company qualifies as a REIT under the Internal Revenue
Code. As a REIT, it would not be subject to federal corporate income
taxes, if it distributes at least 90% of its taxable income to its
stockholders. The company was founded in 1991 and is based in New
York, New York.
